2011 Dam to Dam Scheduled for Saturday, June 4

The 2010 Dam to Dam has come and gone... but will be remembered as a fantastic (and wet) event. Thanks to all runners for their participation and a very special thanks to the countless volunteers for their support in making the 2010 Dam to Dam a success.

The 2011 Dam to Dam is scheduled for Saturday, June 4. Online registration will begin in March 2011. Registration will again be limited to 8,000 runners for the 20K and 3,000 runners for the 5K. We look forward to seeing you in 2011!

About the Race

Dam to Dam is Iowa's Distance Classic and ranks as one of the best long distance races in the USA. The event is the largest 20 kilometer race in the nation. The race is run from Saylorville Dam to downtown Des Moines.

The 5 kilometer gives everyone an opportunity to participate in Dam to Dam and now ranks as the largest in Iowa.

In 1980, when distance races were rare, a group of Des Moines runners organized the first Dam to Dam.  It started on the newly completed Saylorville Dam and finished in downtown Des Moines.  The course has changed little through the years. The 5K was added in 1995 taking the place of a fun run.

The youth runs are the traditional Olympic distances of 100, 200 and 400 meters.
